Hubei Province-based Chinese steelmaker Wuhan Iron and Steel Group (WISCO) has announced that its wide-thick plate for making X80 longitudinal submerged arc welded pipe has been approved by Chinese state-owned oil and gas company Sinopec Group, with the result that WISCO has successfully won the tender to supply steel for the Xin-Yue-Zhe gas pipeline of Sinopec.

The Xin-Yue-Zhe gas pipeline is a large energy project approved by China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), which starts from Yining, Xinjiang Autonomous Region, and ends in Shaoguan, Guangdong Province, with a total length of 8,280 kilometers.
