Hubei Province-based Chinese steelmaker Wuhan Iron and Steel Group (WISCO) has announced that its Fangcheng Steel base’s cold rolling production line has successfully produced its first batch of high-end cold rolled products, marking the official start of production at the Fangcheng Steel base.

The cold rolling production line in question has a designed annual capacity of 900,000 mt of cold rolled steel products, mainly for application in the auto and home appliance sectors.

Meanwhile, Ma Guoqiang, chairman of WISCO, commented that all the iron ore used in WISCO’s steel production needs to be imported from other countries, while Fangcheng port with its natural harbor can contribute to significant savings on transportation costs.
