According to the report which provides essential facts and statistics about the global steel industry, in 2011 world average steel use per capita was 215 kg, up 4.6 percent compared to the 205.5 kg recorded in 2010. The Asian average for per capita steel consumption stood at 238.8 kg in 2011, rising from 228.6 kg in 2010. In the EU, the average was 310 kg, up from 294.4 kg in 2010, and in the CIS countries the average was 212.3 kg, up from 189 kg in 2010. Per capita steel consumption in 2011 was 263 kg in the NAFTA region, up from 243.7 kg in the previous year, while it was 233.9 kg in the Middle East, up from 231.6 kg in 2010. Meanwhile, per capita consumption of steel in Turkey was 341.8 kg in 2011, rising from 303 kg recorded in 2010.
