Zaporizhstal issues Jan-June production results

The Ukrainian steelmaker Zaporizhstal has issued its preliminary production results for the first half of 2009.

Accordingly, during the period in question Zaporizhstal registered a 27 percent decrease in its finished steel production and a 28.5 percent decline in its crude steel production year on year, to 1.341 million mt and 1.597 million mt respectively. Zaporizhstal's agglomerate production went down by 17.4 percent year on year and its pig iron production declined by 26.5 percent. The respective figures in metric tons were 2.385 million and 1.332 million.

In June 2009, Zaporizhstal produced 387,000 mt of agglomerate - down 1.3 percent, 215,000 mt of pig iron - down one percent, 260,000 mt of crude steel - up three percent, and 221,000 mt of finished steel products - down one percent, all compared to May 2009.
