US-based steel pipe manufacturer Zekelman Industries has announced that it plans to invest over $6 million in total to expand its operations in Alabama.

As part of the investment plan, the company will spend about $2.3 million on its Atlas tube facility, upgrading its manufacturing capabilities and production capacity, while it will invest an additional $3.9 million to integrate an existing warehouse for finishing processes into its Wheatland tube facility.

Zekelman will thus produce specialized steel tubing for solar arrays at its Atlas facility and will then transport these products to its Wheatland facility for processing and finishing steps before delivering the finished torque tubes to its customers. This way, once the project is completed, the US-based pipe manufacturer will cater to the demand of the solar industry.

Zekelman Industries have a production capacity of 2.8 million net tons per year.
