ZMZ restarts operations at OHF No.7

Zlatoust Metallurgical Works (ZMZ), a subsidiary of the Russian steel producer ESTAR Holding, has restarted operations at its open hearth furnace (OHF) No. 7, which will allow it to sizeable increase its crude steel output. ZMZ's OHF No.7 was idled in December 2008.

In addition, according to the minister of industry and natural resources of Russia's Chelyabinsk region, Evgeny Teftelev, the restart of the furnace will enable ZMZ to bring back to work 250 more employees.

As SteelOrbis previous reported, in August 2009, ZMZ intends to increase its crude steel production to 16,000 mt, up 84 percent month on month but down 72 percent year on year.
