According to sources, at least one producer has closed one slab export deal at $615/mt, FOB conditions for the basic commercial grades, during negotiations for the last shipments in June.

Such price compares to $610/mt on April 29, following small oscillations around this price range.

Analysts maintain expectations for even higher slabs prices for shipments in July, in line with higher HRC prices in the US.

The next round of negotiations, for shipments in July, is expected to start next week.

In March, Brazil exported 484,700 mt and imported 72,700 mt of slabs.

Preliminary indications now point to slab exports from Brazil in April slightly reduced compared to March, while imports in April were limited to one shipment of 29,000 mt, at an estimated FOB price of $590/mt.
