Discounts applicable for Turkish coated steel, CR demand insufficient

Most of coated and cold rolled coil (CRC) market players in Turkey have reported reduced business activity, particularly for exports due to a downturn in the EU. In the domestic market, buyers’ restocking activities have been at a reduced pace due to financial issues, low end-user demand and a lack of confidence in prices. As a result, most re-rollers are keeping their official prices stable but are reported to be ready to provide sizeable discounts.

In the coated steel segment, hot dip galvanized (HDG) base prices are at $900-940/mt ex-works, but levels $10-20/mt lower are considered possible. Prices for Z60-70 material, according to buyers, can be obtained at $860-870/mt ex-works. In the PPGI segment, prices have softened by $5-10/mt over the past week to $1,000-1,045/mt ex-works, SteelOrbis has learned.

CRC prices in the domestic market are now at $820-840/mt ex-works, with $10/mt discounts possible, while for export the levels can go as low as $800-820/mt FOB.
