The price situation in the steel plate market in Turkey has not changed much over the past two weeks, due to the absence of adverse trend changes in the import scrap and local hot rolled coil segments in the country. As a result, most import and local plate suppliers in Turkey have decided to keep prices relatively stable. Demand is moderate rather than strong and sales have continued. Most import offers are for November and December shipments, while the local Turkish mill has started offering for November output.
European plate prices in Turkey, including those from Bulgaria and Romania, have remained relatively stable over the past two weeks at around $830/mt CFR for November shipments. However, some sources have reported buyers’ ideas at below $800/mt CFR, though no information about deals has been confirmed. Plate prices from South Korea are stable at $750/mt CFR for St37 grade, with cargoes available for December shipment. In the meantime, China is offering at $640-650/mt CFR for base grades, while offers for shipbuilding material have been reported at around $710/mt CFR, down $10-15/mt over the past fortnight.
In the domestic market, according to sources, Erdemir may still give $800/mt ex-works for base plate grades, but some buyers have been reporting offers $10-20/mt higher. The mill is currently offering for November production.
