In Turkey, the hot-rolled coil (HRC) prices have remained relatively stable over the week with moderate activity and the lack of movement in both import scrap segment and import HRC offers from China. No fresh deals have been reported, taking into account that Turkey awaits the decision on the antidumping against China, Russia, India and Japan. Therefore, the import segment has been stalled, especially following decent purchases from China, done earlier this month.
Local HRC offers are mainly reported at $705-720/mt ex-works base in Turkey, with $5/mt discounts possible and the material is available for February-March deliveries. In the import segment, most of the offers for Q195 material have been reported at $604-610/mt CFR and up to $615/mt CFR. Mostly the indications are for February shipments, but some January volumes can still be found. “Some non-VAT traders give lower prices compared to other regular traders offering at higher levels. There is a big competition of re-rollers,” a trader told SteelOrbis.
In the coated steel segment, the current hot-dip galvanized offers are at $900-945/mt ex-works base, while pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI) is available at $1,020-1,050/mt ex-works. Turkey’s cold-rolled coils are at $820-840/mt ex-works.
