PPGI prices indicate stability in China as traders remain cautious

During the week ending October 12, pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI) prices in the Chinese domestic market have remained unchanged. Average PPGI prices in the local market can be viewed in the SteelOrbis price reports section.

On the whole, traders are still rather cautious about concluding new purchases of PPGI, while most demand is coming from downstream users. Although mills are trying to push up their PPGI list prices, few traders are following their example.

Due to the antidumping measures of Russia and the EU against Chinese PPGI products, the Chinese domestic PPGI market has been coming under greater pressure as many exporters have shifted their focus back to the domestic market. However, with not many new construction projects seen, market sentiment is not so positive at the current time.

In the short run, it is expected that PPGI prices in the Chinese domestic market will trend sideways.
