Prices unchanged for Brazilian slab export deals

According to sources, the Brazilian producers are negotiating slab export deals for shipments in May $645/mt, FOB conditions for the basic commercial grades. The price is stable over the last two weeks as the guideline for the export negotiations.

In February, Brazil exported 369,200 mt and imported 93,600 mt of slab, against respectively 575,400 mt and 23,400 mt in January.

In February, ArcelorMittal Tubarão exported 153,000 mt of slab at $727/mt to the US, Ternium exported 170,900 mt at $623/mt to the US, ArcelorMittal Pecem exported 26,000 mt at $607/mt to Mexico and Gerdau exported 19,300 mt at $539/mt to Mexico, all FOB conditions.

The imports were all destined to CSN, shipped from Russia, in average at $468/mt, also FOB conditions.
