According to sources, the deals related to Brazilian slab shipments scheduled for March remain closed in a price range of $710/mt to $715/mt, FOB conditions for the basic commercial grades.

Such price range is the same as the first deals closed last week for shipments in March, frustrating expectations by the producers who were expecting fresh deals in the $720/mt to $735/mt range.

In December, Brazil exported 466,100 mt and imported 27,400 mt of slab.

Preliminary numbers from customs are pointing to a higher volume of exports in January, while no imports of the product were registered during the first two weeks of the month.
