Turkey’s flat spot steel traders have decided to raise prices in line with the improved market outlook brought about by firm scrap and hot rolled coil (HRC) prices. Although most traders have raised their offers, according to sources a few traders continue to offer aggressively at the previous low levels. In the meantime, as regards trade, the bigger and medium-sized traders are seeing better demand, while small traders continue to struggle with a lack of demand.
By the end of the current week, workable domestic hot rolled sheet prices have risen by $20/mt week on week to $690-710/mt ex-warehouse. However, as previously noted, a few traders are trying to entice buyers by offers at lower than market prices, at around $670-680/mt ex-warehouse.
Most traders’ offers in the cold rolled sheet market have risen to $790-820/mt ex-warehouse, from $770-800/mt ex-warehouse before.
