Steel plate prices have mostly been stable in Turkey with the exception of the slight price movements by some suppliers, which are considered to be simple adjustments during negotiations and in line with the market reality. Supply, however, has decreased, particularly due to the lack of offers from South Korea due to the antidumping investigation initiated earlier.
The most recent price indications from one of the South Korean mills have been heard at $710-720/mt CFR for June shipments, though the interest in this material has been low. Ex-China plate has also been relatively stable at $695-700/mt CFR for S235JR material and for lots for end-of-May shipment, SteelOrbis has learned.
European mills, whose prices had been the highest in the Turkish market, have stepped back. In particular, Bulgaria is offering $10/mt lower than two weeks ago at $820/mt CFR base, while Romania has cut offers from $820/mt CFR in early April to $780-800/mt CFR in the most recent indications.
In the domestic market, Erdemir still keeps offers at around $780/mt ex-works base, while ex-warehouse prices have been reported at $820/mt for S235JR and at $870-880/mt for S355JR plate.
