The reference price Brazilian rebar exports is $840/mt, stable from four weeks ago, FOB conditions for the CA-50 grade, for sales to South American countries.
In March, Brazil exported 93,100 mt and imported 9,700 mt of rebar, against respectively 4,900 mt and 2,100 mt of rebar in February.
The volume of rebar exported in March was the highest in recent years, reflecting postponements of shipments from February, due to the holidays period in Brazil during the month.
The exports in March were destined to South American countries (90,200 mt at $670/mt), and the US (2,900 mt at $623/mt). shipped by ArcelorMittal (63,200 mt at $671/mt), and Gerdau (29,900 mt at $667/mt), FOB conditions.
The imports were from Peru (8,400 mt at $660/mt), Turkey (1,200 mt at $602/mt), and Germany (100 mt at $1,812/mt), also FOB conditions.
In the Brazilian domestic market, rebars are offered by producers, in medium to large volumes, at BRL 5,630/mt ($1,070/mt), stable in BRL from four weeks ago, ex-works, full taxes except IPI, for the supply in the country’s southeast and south regions.
