The reference price for the export of rebars by Brazilian producers is $840/mt, stable from four weeks ago, FOB conditions for the CA-50 grade, for sales to South American countries.
In April, Brazil exported 8,000 mt and imported 10,500 mt of rebar, against respectively 93,100 mt and 9,700 mt in March.
The volume exported in April is roughly in line with the historical average, while the volume of rebar exported in March, the highest in recent years, reflects postponements of shipments from February, due to the holidays period in Brazil during the month.
The exports of April were destined to South American countries (6,200 mt at $714/mt) and to the US (1,800 mt at $614/mt), shipped by ArcelorMittal (7,600 mt at $692/mt) and Gerdau (400 mt at $715/mt), FOB conditions.
The imports were from Egypt (5,700 mt at $624/mt) and Peru (4,800 mt at $660/mt) also FOB conditions.
In the Brazilian domestic market, rebars are offered by producers, in medium to large volumes, at BRL 5,630/mt ($1,102/mt), stable in BRL from four weeks ago, ex-works, full taxes except IPI, for the supply in the country’s southeast and south regions.
