Ex-Turkey official merchant bar export prices move sideways

Over the past week, most Turkish merchant bar re-rollers have kept their official export prices at $620-640/mt FOB against the backdrop of sluggish international demand. In addition, when Kardemir's price today for 150 mm x 150 mm S235JR grade billet at $545/mt ex-works is taken into account, a few mills are attempting to apply aggressive pricing to generate sales. Currently, official ex-Turkey equal angle offers are standing at $620-640/mt FOB, for May-June shipment.

The SteelOrbis daily Turkish billet import reference price stands at $525-545/mt CFR, versus $525-535/mt CFR a week ago.

According to sources, Latin American buyers were active with inquiries for slightly above 5,000 mt of merchant bar last week.
