The import rebar market in Lebanon has been sluggish for a long period and this situation has also been aggravated by the unrest in the Middle East, particularly in the Red Sea region. Some market players hope that a ceasefire may be seen soon in Gaza and that this would help the market to recover. Currently, long product stocks in Lebanon are at medium levels, while import offers are mainly coming from Turkey and North Africa.
Currently, ex-Turkey rebar offers are standing at $585-600/mt , versus $610-620/mt FOB, while wire rod prices vary at $605/mt FOB, versus $630-635/mt FOB last month. Freight is mostly stable at $15-20/mt from Turkey to Lebanon for small tonnages. Egyptian longs are mainly available nowadays at $575-580/mt FOB for both rebar and wire rod, which are equal to $590-600/mt CFR Lebanon. Overall, Egyptian prices have dropped by around $20/mt over the past month.
In the domestic retail market in Lebanon, the prices of ex-North Africa rebar are at $600/mt CPT, versus $640/mt CPT one month earlier.
