Over the past week, Turkish domestic official merchant bar producers have mostly kept their merchant bar prices stable in the local currency, with just minor changes on US dollar basis, while only merchant bar prices in the Iskenderun region have increased, rising by TRY 100/mt (5$/mt). Moreover, one Iskenderun-based mill is offering its equal angles at TRY 19,600-19,920/mt ($609-619/mt) ex-works.
Most merchant bar sellers are offering either for June-early July delivery or from stocks. A few re-rollers are also offering their HEA/HEB (550-700 mm, standard) at TRY 26,500/mt ($823/mt), falling by TRY 300/mt ($7/mt), for delivery to the Karabuk region.
Most buyers are taking their time before concluding new purchases ahead of the Turkish central bank's interest rate decision due on Thursday, May 23.
