Local Turkish official wire rod prices follow diverse trends

Over the past week, Turkish mills have kept their domestic wire rod prices unchanged in the Thrace and Izmir regions, while raising them slightly in the Marmara region amid the relatively positive sentiment in the import scrap segment. Sources report that, though list prices have remained stable, additional $5-10/mt discounts are available to serious buyers. In addition, one Iskenderun-based mill has cut its wire rod price by $20/mt to $610/mt ex-works due to sluggish demand and its more aggressive pricing policy.

Demand is generally sluggish due to Ramadan and ahead of Turkey’s local elections.
