Turkish mills have increased their wire rod prices by $10-15/mt in the Thrace and Izmir regions compared to Friday, December 8, while prices have remained unchanged in the rest of the country, against the backdrop of the positive sentiment in the import scrap segment. Additional discounts are applicable for serious buyers only.
An Iskenderun-based mill has kept its official wire rod price at $640/mt ex-works today, December 12. Meanwhile, one Izmir-based mill has gradually raised its price, SteelOrbis has heard.
Kardemir closed its wire rod sales at noon, yesterday. The mill was offering 6-27 mm SAE 1008-1010 wire rod at $625/mt ex-works on Wednesday, December 6. Sources report the mill succeeded in selling around 15,000 mt of wire rod, though the final tonnage has not been confirmed by the time of publication.
