Despite that the outlook in the domestic longs market of Romania has remained rather gloomy, the local producer has maintained its offers over the week. However, some price softening from the mill is anticipated shortly, taking into account that some traders are providing discounts for serious buyers while keeping the official offers stable. Additionally, market participants believe that business activity will slow down even more as the Easter holiday (according to Romanian traditions) nears.
Over the last week, rebar prices from both the domestic mill and traders in Romania have remained unchanged at €630/mt ex-works and €610-635/mt ex-warehouse, respectively. Nevertheless, as previously said, certain traders are flexible and are offering at around €600/mt ex-warehouse.
In the wire rod market, the majority of traders have maintained their previous week's offers despite poor demand, indicating that even discounts are unappealing to buyers. Therefore, wire rod offers are still between €610-625/mt ex-warehouse.
Furthermore, import offers this week have been mostly unchanged but no deals have been reported. As a result, ex-Moldova rebar offers are at €620-630/mt CPT, whereas Greece has been standing at €615/mt CFR and €635/mt CFR, respectively. Offers for rebar and wire rods from Egypt to Romania have been reported at €565/mt CFR and €575/mt CFR, respectively. On the other hand, ex-Turkey rebar offers this week have gone up from €565-580/mt CFR Romania to €570-590/mt CFR, based on the exchange rate of €1 = $1.07 and the cost of freight, which is €25-30/mt.
