Since demand locally continues to be strong, Romania’s sole producer and local traders have chosen to keep prices stable. In the meantime, according to market players, customers have started asking for discounts or are expecting price reductions, though, given the present improved situation, this appears to be difficult at least for the moment.
“Demand is still good, so we are keeping offers stable but some clients have already started asking for lower prices,” a large trader told SteelOrbis.
Over the last week, the sole rebar producer has decided to keep offers stable at €630/mt ex-works. Similarly, most traders continue to offer their rebar offers at stable levels week on week at roughly €610-635/mt ex-warehouse.
In the wire rod segment, considering that the majority of traders had raised prices and gained the approval of buyers, this week's offers have remained unchanged from the previous week at €610-625/mt ex-warehouse.
Furthermore, while no purchases have been reported, offers have been received and it is expected that Romanian traders will express interest in imports in the coming weeks. As a result, Moldova's rebar offers this week remain unchanged from the previous week at €625-635/mt CPT, while offers for wire rod and rebar from Egypt have remained at €590/mt CFR and €575/mt CFR from the previous week. Additionally, ex-Turkey rebar offers have remained at around €560-580/mt CFR Romania, stable week on week, based on an exchange rate of €1 = $1.09 and freight prices of €25-30/mt. Rebar and wire rod offers from Greece, on the other hand, have been reduced to €625-635/mt CFR and €645-655/mt CFR from €645/mt CFR and €665/mt CFR previously.
