Over the past week, local Turkish official merchant bar producers have mostly kept their merchant bar prices stable in the local currency on Turkish lira basis, while decreasing them by $6-7/mt on US dollar basis in the Izmir and Denizli regions. In addition, the merchant bar price in the Karabuk region has fallen by TRY 100/mt ($10/mt). Moreover, one Iskenderun-based mill is offering its equal angle price at TRY 20,000-20,320/mt ($615-625/mt) ex-works, up by TRY 505/mt ($9/mt) over the past week.
Most merchant bar sellers are offering either for May delivery or from stocks. A few re-rollers are also offering their HEA/HEB (550-700 mm, standard) at TRY 27,000/mt ($830/mt), for delivery to the Karabuk region.
Most local buyers are waiting for the Turkish central bank's interest rate decision due tomorrow, April 25, before concluding new purchases.
