Over the past week, Turkish domestic official merchant bar producers have mostly cut their merchant bar prices by TRY 200-300/mt ($6-10/mt) , while only merchant bar prices in the Iskenderun region have remained unchanged in the local currency with minor changes on US dollar basis. Moreover, one Iskenderun-based mill is still offering its equal angle price at TRY 19,500-19,820/mt ($604-614/mt) ex-works.
Most merchant bar sellers are offering either for late May-June delivery or from stocks. A few re-rollers are also offering their HEA/HEB (550-700 mm, standard) at TRY 26,800/mt ($830/mt), for delivery to the Karabuk region.
Most buyers are pessimistic regarding the adverse market conditions caused by limited access to credit from banks.
