Over the past week, Turkish official domestic merchant bar prices have risen by TRY 100/mt, with minor changes on US dollar basis, in the Karabuk region, while they have risen by TRY 500/mt ($12/mt) in the Denizli and Izmir regions, amid costlier billet. In addition, one Iskenderun-based mill has set its equal angle price at TRY 19,300-19,590/mt ex-works this week, as its merchant bar sales were closed a week ago.
Most merchant bar sellers are offering either for late February delivery or from stocks. A few re-rollers are also offering their HEA/HEB (550-700 mm, standard) at TRY 24,800/mt ($827/mt) ex-works for delivery to the Karabuk region. The general sentiment on the demand side is negative.
