Over the past week, Turkish mills have raised their official wire rod prices by $10/mt in the Izmir region, while wire rod prices in the Thrace region have remained stable. In addition, wire rod prices in the Marmara region have softened on the lower end against the backdrop of the ongoing currency fluctuations. Additional discounts are applicable for serious buyers. An Iskenderun-based mill has closed its longs sales today, January 2.
Kardemir is still offering its price for 6-27 mm SAE 1008-1010 wire rod at $635/mt ex-works today, stable compared to last week.
Following the preliminary results of its safeguard measure investigation on alloyed and non-alloyed wire rod imports, a temporary safeguard measure of $175/mt has been introduced for wire rod imports for 200 days. Sources report that local wire rod prices may increase in the coming days.
