Today, March 25, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices have remained unchanged on Turkish lira basis with minor changes on US dollar basis amid the ongoing currency fluctuations, compared to Thursday, March 21. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey have settled at TRY 23,100-23,900 mt or $599-619/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region, with an exchange rate of $1 = TRY 32.15.
Icdas has kept its official dollar-based rebar price at $620/mt ex-works today. The general official rebar price range in the Marmara and Izmir regions varies at $600-625/mt, versus $590-620/mt ex-works a week ago. One Marmara-based mill is expected to carry out its maintenance works over five days during the Eid holiday in April.
One Iskenderun-based mill has closed its rebar sales today. The mill issued its rebar price at TRY 23,450/mt ($611/mt) ex-works at an exchange rate of $1 = TRY 32,00, on Friday, March 22 and closed its rebar sales on the afternoon of the same day. Another re-roller in this region has issued its rebar price at TRY 23,500/mt ($610/mt) ex-warehouse today, SteelOrbis has heard.
Demand is generally weak and trading activity seems unlikely to gain momentum ahead of the local elections on Sunday, March 31.
