Today, May 6, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices have mostly have fallen by TRY 100-200/mt , only remaining unchanged in the local currency in the Izmir region, with all prices just indicating minor changes on US dollar basis amid ongoing currency fluctuations, as compared to Monday, April 29. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey have settled at TRY 22,900-23,700/mt or $591-612/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region, with an exchange rate of $1 = TRY 32.27.
Icdas has kept its official dollar-based rebar price stable at $620/mt ex-works today. While the general official rebar price range in the Marmara and Izmir regions varies at $590-610/mt ex-works, the workable rebar price still seems close to the lower end.
“Demand is sluggish and most local buyers are having difficulties accessing bank loans,” one source commented.
