Today, December 28, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices have risen by TRY 100-400/mt with minor changes on US dollar basis, compared to Monday, December 25, against the backdrop of the ongoing currency fluctuations. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey have settled at TRY 21,000-21,700/mt or $594-614/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region, with an exchange rate of $1 = TRY 29.46.
Icdas has kept its official dollar-based rebar price stable at $620/mt ex-works today. The general official rebar price range in the Marmara and Izmir regions how varies at $590-620/mt ex-works, versus $595-630/mt ex-works at the beginning of the week. Most local buyers are monitoring the import scrap price trend and are exerting pressure for further discounts. Additional discounts are applicable for serious buyers.
"Each local trader has his own pricing strategy depending on stock levels and cash generation requirements as the year ends" one source commented.
