Today, November 6, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices have mainly risen by TRY 200-400/mt ($4-11/mt), while remaining unchanged in the local currency with minor changes on US dollar basis in the Karabuk region, against the backdrop of the ongoing currency fluctuations and costlier import scrap, as compared to Thursday, November 2. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey have settled at TRY 19,300-19,600/mt or $566-574/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region, with an exchange rate of $1 = TRY 28.44.
Icdas has raised its official dollar-based rebar price by $5/mt to $575/mt ex-works today. Most Izmir and Marmara-based mills are offering official rebar prices at $565-580/mt ex-works, rising by $5/mt over the same period. Additional discounts are applicable for serious buyers only.
One Iskenderun-based mill has kept its rebar sales closed over the past week . In addition, a few re-rollers in the region are offering rebar at TRY 19,600-19,800/mt ($574-580/mt) ex-warehouse, versus TRY 19,300-19,500/mt ($567-573/mt) ex-warehouse a week ago.
Most local buyers are monitoring the import scrap price trend and not rushing to restock material, in order to reduce their existing stocks first.
