Today, April 18, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices have mostly fallen by TRY 100/mt ($4-5/mt), against the backdrop of sluggish demand and the ongoing currency fluctuations, as compared to Monday, April 15. In addition, rebar spot prices in the Iskenderun region have remained stable on Turkish lira basis, with minor changes on US dollar basis. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey have settled at TRY 23,100-24,000 mt or $592-616/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region, with an exchange rate of $1 = TRY 32.49.
Icdas has kept its official dollar-based rebar price at $620/mt ex-works today. The general official rebar price range in the Marmara and Izmir regions still varies at $600-620/mt ex-works, while the workable rebar prices are at $595-605/mt ex-works. Rumors are circulating that a small tonnage of rebar was traded in the Marmara region at slightly below $605/mt ex-works earlier this week.
One Iskenderun-based mill has issued its rebar price at TRY 24,250/mt ($622/mt) ex-warehouse today.
Most local buyers are relatively pessimistic due to the ongoing currency fluctuations and since trading activity seems slow so far.
As of today, rebar offers in the Turkish spot market are as follows:
