Today, December 11, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices have risen by TRY 200-400/mt ($4-10/mt) compared to Thursday, December 7, amid the ongoing currency fluctuations and the positive sentiment in the import scrap segment. Most Turkish mills are attempting to keep their rebar prices firm due to costlier raw materials. On the demand side, the construction companies are postponing their purchases amid adverse weather conditions. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey have settled at TRY 21,300-22,000/mt or $612-632/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region, with an exchange rate of $1 = TRY 29.00.
Icdas has increased its official dollar-based rebar price by $10/mt to $620/mt ex-works today. The general rebar price range in the Marmara and Izmir regions varies at $610-635/mt, versus $605-630/mt ex-works last week. Sources report one Izmir-based mill is also attempting to increase its price by $5/mt to $615/mt ex-works today.
A few re-rollers in the Iskenderun region are offering rebar at TRY 21,700/mt ($624/mt) ex-warehouse.
As of today, rebar offers in the Turkish spot market are as follows:
