Today, January 4, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices have increased by TRY 300-700/mt ($2-13/mt), compared to Thursday, December 28, amid the ongoing currency fluctuations. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey have settled at TRY 21,500-22,200/mt or $602-621/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region, with an exchange rate of $1 = TRY 29.78.
Icdas has kept its official dollar-based rebar price stable at $620/mt ex-works today. The general official rebar price range in the Marmara and Izmir regions now varies at $600-620/mt ex-works, versus $590-620/mt ex-works on December 28. Most local buyers are exerting pressure for further discounts due to the negative sentiment in the import segment. Sources report additional discounts are applicable for serious buyers.
One Iskenderun-based mill is offering rebar at TRY 22,500/mt ($630/mt) ex-works, while a few re-rollers in the same region are offering rebar at TRY 22,200-22,300/mt ($621-624/mt) ex-warehouse, SteelOrbis has heard.
