Today, January 15, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices have risen by TRY 100-200/mt ($1-4/mt), compared to Thursday, January 11, amid the ongoing currency fluctuations. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey have settled at TRY 22,500-23,000/mt or $623-637/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region, with an exchange rate of $1 = TRY 30.10.
Icdas has kept its official dollar-based rebar price at $630/mt ex-works today. The general official rebar price range in the Marmara and Izmir regions now varies at $625-640/mt ex-works, versus $620-645/mt ex-works last week.
One Iskenderun-based mill is still offering rebar at TRY 22,750/mt ($630/mt) ex-works for February delivery. In addition, a few re-rollers in the same region are offering rebar at TRY 22,700-23,100/mt ($628-640/mt) ex-warehouse for relatively shorter delivery terms, which makes a difference in terms of price.
One Samsun-based mill is also offering rebar at TRY 23,400/mt ($648/mt) ex-works, SteelOrbis has heard.
Most buyers are delaying new purchases and are monitoring the import scrap price trend, while also following the Turkish Employers Association of Metal Industries’ ongoing labor contract negotiations.
