Over the past week, Turkish mills have kept their official wire rod prices stable in the Thrace and Izmir regions amid relatively firm import scrap prices, while wire rod prices have fallen by $5/mt in the rest of the country amid due to sluggish demand. Additional discounts are applicable for cash payment and serious buyers only.
One Iskenderun-based mill has cut its wire rod price by $5/mt to $605/mt ex-works. According to sources, the workable wire rod prices are around $595-620/mt ex-works. In addition, there are reports circulating that Kardemir has succeeded in selling around 16,000 mt of wire rod after its 6-27 mm SAE 1008-1010 grade price was issued at $600/mt ex-works on Wednesday, May 29, while its sales are still open. However the final tonnage has not been confirmed by the time of publication.
Most buyers are holding back from new purchases ahead of the Feast of Sacrifice holiday.
