Although sources do not expect any market factors to influence US domestic rebar prices in the near term, some sources say that US rebar mills are eager to push prices up in the face of stable scrap prices. Demand is reportedly strong enough for mills to negotiate toward the higher end of current spot ranges, and sources say that mills might not encounter much pushback if they try.
For now, US domestic rebar spot prices are steady week-on-week at $42.50-$43.50 cwt. ($937-$959/mt or $850-$870/nt) ex-mill, and prices on the East coast are still at $42.00-$43.00 cwt. ($926-$948/mt or $840-$860/nt) ex-mill.
