Prices for imported scrap in containers in Bangladesh have failed to increase in deals so far since, even though some sellers have made attempts to increase their prices slightly over the past week, bids from Bangladeshi customers have remained relatively stable.
More specifically, according to sources, a few deals for ex-Australia HMS I/II 80:20 scrap in containers have been signed at $400-405/mt CFR, at the same level as reported last week, while most offers have increased to $410-415/mt CFR. Meanwhile, offers for ex-EU/UK shredded scrap in containers have been estimated at $425/mt CFR, mainly the same as last week. Meanwhile, offers for ex-Asia PNS scrap are still estimated at around $430-445/mt CFR, depending on the origin. “This week, the Bangladeshi import market has been witnessing minimal business activity given slow end-user demand,” a market insider told SteelOrbis.
In the bulk segment, no fresh deals have been reported so far, while offers have settled at $405/mt CFR for ex-US HMS I/II 80:20 scrap, at $410-415/mt CFR for shredded scrap, and at $415-420/mt CFR for bonus grade. Besides, offers for ex-Japan H2 scrap in bulk have been heard at around $400-405/mt CFR this week.
“The import scrap market in Bangladesh has remained sluggish, with no firm interested in new buying,” a Bangladeshi trader said.
