The leading Japanese EAF-based steel producer Tokyo Steel has increased its scrap procurement price for its Takamatsu plant. This move has not changed the general scrap purchase price ranges of the producer and is considered as an adjustment for the Takamatsu region.

Tokyo Steel’s general range for H2 grade scrap has remained unchanged at JPY52,000-53,000/mt ($345-352/mt) depending on the mill. As compared to the levels announced on February 15, the dollar equivalent has decreased by $2/mt due to ongoing depreciation of the Japanese yen against the US dollar.

Shindachi scrap prices of Tokyo Steel have remained stable at JPY53,000-54,500/mt ($352-362/mt), also decreasing by $2/mt on dollar-basis. All the prices in question are delivered and effective as of today, March 1.
