Turkey’s domestic scrap prices remain stable on lira basis

Friday, 29 December 2023 15:55:56 (GMT+3)   |   Istanbul

Over the past week, Turkish producers have kept their domestic scrap prices stable in the local currency. The depreciation of the Turkish lira against the major currencies has resulted in a $3-5/mt decline in dollar-based quotations. Since Turkish mills are mainly out of the import scrap market, except for rare bookings, they are keeping their domestic scrap prices stable to sustain scrap flow to their yards.

While the general range in the local Turkish scrap market for the benchmark DKP grade scrap has remained at TRY 11,200-12,400/mt, dollar-based quotations are now at $379-420/mt.
