Turkey’s ship scrap market remains firm for now

Izmir-based Turkish steel producers have adjusted their ship scrap prices in line with their needs, but in general the price range remains firm. With two mills representing the lower end at $375/mt, the upper end has not changed since January 24, remaining at $413/mt. Nevertheless, downward pressure is increasing on ship scrap prices, given the consecutive price reductions in the deep sea scrap segment.

In Turkey’s Izmir region, the ship scrap purchase prices of local steelmakers are as follows:

Producer

Price ($/mt)

Özkan Demir Çelik

410

Habaş

413

Ege Çelik

395

İDÇ

375

Çebitaş

375

All the above prices are for delivery to mill by truck.
