Turkish mills start to raise domestic scrap prices

Although the general range in Turkey’s domestic scrap market has remained stable over the past two weeks, several Turkish mills have increased their purchase prices to attract tonnages. Domestic scrap purchase prices have risen by TRY 150-350/mt or $4-12/mt. Due to the stability of the Turkish lira-US dollar exchange rate, the sideways movement on Turkish lira basis has resulted in little change in dollar-based prices.

The general range in the local Turkish scrap market for the benchmark DKP grade scrap has remained unchanged at TRY 11,800-13,150/mt in the local currency. Dollar-based prices are now at $369-412/mt, from $368-411/mt before.
