Local Chinese pipe prices stable or up slightly for seamless, down slightly for welded

In the past week, local Chinese steel pipe prices have moved sideways or up slightly for seamless pipes, while moving down slightly for welded pipes.

Chinese seamless pipe prices have followed a stable or slightly upward trend during the past seven days. Overall trading activity has remained weak, while billet prices have softened, exerting pressure on seamless pipe prices. Some downstream buyers have started to increase their stock levels for the winter. As for the week ahead, it is believed that seamless pipe may edge down.

Local Chinese welded pipe prices have declined by small margins during the past week. Overall trading activity has remained sluggish due to the off-season and winter weather conditions. Prices of steel strip and other raw materials have indicated a downward trend, causing most welded pipe prices to follow a similar trend. As for the week ahead, considering that support from the cost side is getting weak and that demand is still influenced by the off-season, it is believed that welded pipe prices may continue their soft trend.
