Local Chinese steel pipe prices have indicated a slight upward trend during the past week.
Chinese domestic seamless pipe prices have moved up slightly during the past seven days. Overall trading activity has remained weak. Prices of billet and other raw materials have increased, causing most pipe producers to slightly increase their quoted prices, but, since demand is sluggish, the increase margins have been smaller compared to the increases in raw material prices. As for the week ahead, it is believed that seamless pipe prices may indicate minor fluctuations.
Local Chinese welded pipe prices have also risen by small margins during the past day, amid increases in prices of steel strip and other raw materials. Overall trading activity is still weak due to the off-season and winter weather conditions. As for the week ahead, considering the support from the cost side and the weakness of demand, it is believed that welded pipe prices may just fluctuate slightly.
