Local Chinese steel pipe prices have risen slightly during the past week.

Local Chinese seamless pipe prices have moved sideways or up slightly during the past seven days. Overall trading activity is still weak. Minor increases in billet prices have caused many seamless pipe traders to raise their prices also though increase margins have been small due to the sluggishness of demand. As for the week ahead, considering the off-season and the cold weather, it is believed that seamless pipe prices may follow a soft trend.

Local Chinese welded pipe prices have moved up by small margins during the past week amid increases seen in prices of steel strip and of other raw materials. Overall trading activity is still slack. Many traders have been maintaining a wait-and-see stance and have been unwilling to increase their stock levels. As for the week ahead, it is believed that welded pipe prices may indicate minor fluctuations.
