Local Chinese steel pipe prices move sideways or soften

Local Chinese steel pipe prices have either moved sideways or declined during the past week.

Local Chinese seamless pipe prices have followed a stable trend during the past seven days. Overall trading activity has been slack as demand has not fully recovered yet after the holiday. In the past week, billet prices first increased and then softened, but most traders have maintained a wait-and-see stance. As for the week ahead, considering the support from the cost side is weak, it is believed that seamless pipe prices may follow a stable or slightly soft trend.

Local Chinese welded pipe prices have moved down during the past week. Overall trading activity has been at a low level since downstream buyers have still not fully returned to the market. Prices of steel strip and other raw materials have declined, causing most welded pipe prices to follow a similar trend. As for the week ahead, it is believed that welded pipe prices will mostly continue to indicate slight declines.
