Argentina’s ArcelorMittal Acindar and Petroquimica Comodoro Rivadavia (PCR) have inaugurated their 112.5 megawatts wind power complex in Toro Negro, province of San Luis.

The “San Luis Norte Complex” received investments estimated at $210 million, counting on 25 wind turbines located in an area of 1,500 hectares.

With the start-up of the plant, Acindar will reduce its carbon emissions by 164,000 mt per year, under a target to reduce its total emissions by 30 percent until 2030.

In a second stage, the complex will receive an 18 megawatts solar power plant, becoming the first renewable energy hybrid complex in Argentina.

Under its final configuration, the complex will allow Acindar to reduce by 190,000 mt per year its carbon emissions.
