Russia's Ministry of Regional Development has reached an agreement on the participation of Russian steel producer Amurmetall in projects for the preparation of the Vladivostok region for the hosting of the APEC Summit in 2012.

Accordingly, about 300,000 mt of rolled steel products will be required for construction works at the Federal University. In addition, Amurmetall is to deliver steel products for the construction of bridges to Churkin Peninsula and Russkiy Island.

Meanwhile, regardless of Amurmetall's unsuccessful attempts to secure a credit facility for the replenishing of its working capital, the plant is returning to full operation. In the middle of March 2009, Amurmetall was able to restart operations at its rolling mill shop, while its flat rolling shop, recommissioned on February 25, is currently finishing a 3,000 mt export order.
