ArcelorMittal losing 10,000 mt in daily production as Mexican strike continues

Tuesday, 08 March 2016 23:05:29 (GMT+3)   |
ArcelorMittal Mexico is losing up to 10,000 mt of steel production per day as the massive strike, which began on March 4 at the company’s Lazaro Cardenas mill, continues.

“We’re starting to lose between 8,500 and 10,000 mt of steel per day, which isn’t being produced,” the steelmaker said.

ArcelorMittal Mexico said there’s a risk of losing clients due to the situation and the “lack of certainty” regarding the issue. The strike could put the steelmaker in an “even more critical” situation, given the current market scenario seen in the local steel industry, the company said.

ArcelorMittal Mexico said it’s under an adverse economic situation thanks to the “unfair competition” with the imported steel.
